Kota Kinabalu, 5 September 2025 – The 21st Asian Battery Conference and Exhibition (ABC), one of the world’s foremost international gatherings in the lead battery industry, successfully concluded at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) in Kota Kinabalu. The event took place from 2 – 5 September 2025, bringing together leading manufacturers, researchers, and stakeholders from across the globe.
Recognized as a premier platform for the sector, the conference attracted more than 1,000 participants and featured over 45 expert speakers. Sessions covered global market developments, technological innovations, and advancements in lead battery manufacturing and recycling. The event also highlighted the latest insights into sustainable energy storage and future growth opportunities for the industry.
The opening address was delivered by Mark Stevenson, Technical Director of Global Lead Technologies, who also chaired the preceding 9th International Secondary Lead & Battery Recycling Conference. In his remarks, Stevenson reflected on the legacy and resilience of the lead battery sector, noting its strong interdependence with the broader lead industry. He emphasized that rather than questioning the longevity of the industry, the focus should be on its direction, innovation, and contribution to society. He also underscored the importance of knowledge transfer between generations, calling on seasoned experts to inspire and nurture future leaders in the sector.
“Instead of asking how long the lead industry will last, we should be asking what legacy we want to leave and what heritage we will entrust to the next generation,” Stevenson said, urging participants to use the conference as a platform to shape the future of the industry.
To ensure a smooth experience for international participants, particularly those requiring special entry passes, the Sabah Convention Bureau (SCB) provided in-kind assistance by working closely with local authorities on coordination and facilitation. The seamless facilitation highlighted Sabah’s capability to host high-profile international conferences efficiently. “We are proud to have supported the Asian Battery Conference 2025 in Sabah.
