Kota Kinabalu Debuts First Hop-On Hop-Off City Tour Bus, Linking 17 Iconic Attractions

Kota Kinabalu, 12 September 2025 — Kota Kinabalu today unveiled its first Hop-On Hop-Off (HOHO) City Tour Bus, offering residents and visitors a fresh, accessible way to explore 17 of the city’s most celebrated sights. The soft launch introduces two 60-seater double-decker buses that will run daily, connecting cultural, leisure and lifestyle hubs across the city.

The HOHO service was officially launched by the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Datuk Seri Panglima Christina Liew, who was represented at the event by Assistant Minister Datuk Joniston Bangkuai. The launch was also graced by the presence of YB Datuk Phoong Jin Tze, Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Sabah, YB Datuk Chan Foong Hin, Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities Malaysia, YB Vivian Wong Shir Yee, Member of Parliament for Sandakan, members of the Board of Directors of KK HOHO, as well as other distinguished guests.

Presented as a tourism catalyst and community booster, the route includes stops at Atkinson Clock Tower, Sabah Museum, Kota Kinabalu City Mosque, Tanjung Aru Beach, Sutera Harbour Resort, Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), Suria Sabah Mall and Imago Mall, among others.

Two buses will operate from 9:00am to 6:00pm at roughly one-hour intervals, making the service predictable and user-friendly. Ticket pricing is positioned to welcome a broad mix of riders: RM30 for Malaysian adults and RM20 for Malaysian children, while international visitors are charged RM45 for adults and RM25 for children. Onboard audio commentary is available in six languages such as English, Malay, Mandarin, Tamil, Korean and Japanese, ensuring clear context and stories for a diverse audience.
